Popular biteSMS Jailbreak Tweak Gets New Notification Center Features, Themes And More

August 21, 2012
Great news, folks: biteSMS, the popular Messages-replacing jailbreak tweak, has recently been updated to version 6.3. Now, jailbreakers can take advantage of a bunch of new Notification Center features, and can apply new themes to the biteSMS app. Finally, a series of important bug fixes have also been made to the $9.99 jailbreak tweak. First up, let's talk about notifications. In biteSMS 6.3, users can now mark incoming messages as "read" from within Notification Center, or outside of Notification Center via a banner notification. This can be done by touching a small "x" icon, which appears alongside new, unread messages. Furthermore, Notification Center and banner notifications can now display contact images, and it's also possible to easily "Quick Reply" to a text just by sliding the notification icon or contact image to the right. All in all, the changes made to notifications in biteSMS 6.3 make this popular jailbreak tweak even more of a Messages-replacing solution for jailbreak fans. In addition to the above, a selection of themes have been added in biteSMS 6.3, including a Metro UI theme. If the standard look of biteSMS doesn't get you hot under the collar, we can guarantee that one of the new themes added in this update will. Finally, the usual bug fixes and performance optimizations have been made in version 6.3 of biteSMS, meaning the jailbreak tweak should be all the more stable. Fans of the iPad app, too, will be pleased to learn that the layout of this version of biteSMS has been vastly improved, which is great to hear. Currently, biteSMS 6.3 is available to download in the Cydia Store as a free update. If you haven't already downloaded the jailbreak tweak, you can grab an ad-supported version for free, or can take the full, ad-free version of the tweak for a spin for seven days. After this, a license will be required - however, for one week only this can be purchased for just $4.99 (after which biteSMS 6.3 will set you back $9.99). Below, our AppAdvice jailbreak video-maker, writer and iOS Advice columnistDom Esposito, has put together a walkthrough of biteSMS 6.3, which we've embedded below. Take a look at the video now, and see for yourself why biteSMS 6.3 is worth the download.
