Explore The Vast Universe Of iOS Apps With Hubbl

September 30, 2012
We here at AppAdvice pride ourselves in recommending great apps for you to download. Be that as it may, we are well aware that there's another resource you can turn to for app recommendations: your friends. And wouldn't you know it? There are also apps that can help you connect with your friends all in the name of, well, apps. One such app is Kinetik, which, after being updated to version 2.0 last month, was recently adapted for the iPad. Another is Hubbl - Social App Discovery, which was released just yesterday. Hubbl, as you may have already guessed, is named after the famous Hubble Space Telescope. Why? "With as many apps as there are stars in the night sky," explains the app's developer, "Hubbl is the smart telescope that you've always needed to spot the right apps in the App Universe." After you sign up with your Facebook or Twitter account, Hubbl allows you to suggest apps by adding apps to tags or adding tags to apps. By following your friends on Hubbl, you also get to see their app recommendations. It's pretty much like Kinetik in its basic functionality. But Hubbl does have something that Kinetik doesn't: SkyView. SkyView is just like stargazing for apps. It presents a constellation, so to speak, of app icons. You can tap any of the app icons to learn more about and take action on the corresponding app. I've noticed, though, that some of these icons, when tapped, open the details of entirely different apps. Moreoever, the app tends to crash when on SkyView. Beginner's bugs, no doubt. Designed for iPhone (but not yet optimized for iPhone 5), Hubbl - Social App Discovery is available now in the App Store for free. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
