WordPress Blogging App Poster Gains Featured Image Support And Plenty More Features

October 28, 2012
Poster, which is probably the most elegant WordPress blog editor for iOS, has just received another feature-packed update. Released a couple of months ago by independent developer Tom Witkin, Poster supports posting to both WordPress.com and WordPress.org (self-hosted) blogs. Personally, I find it to be a more pleasant blogging solution than the official WordPress for iOS app and even the multi-platform Blogsy app. Poster is really a visually appealing app. But, more importantly, it's a really useful blogging app as well, what with its myriad features. As it happens, its latest update adds even more features. Foremost among this is support for featured images. Introduced to the official WordPress for iOS app just a few days ago, this feature lets you set set any image as a post's featured image on your blog. Of course, your blog's theme must support featured images in the first place for this feature to work. Aside from featured image support, the following features have also been gained by Poster:
  • Share posts to App.Net via Netbot (requires iOS 6)
  • Landscape support when editing a post on iPhone or iPod touch
  • New custom fields can now be defined from the post detail view
  • Voiceover support
  • Option to set the first line of a document as the post title when importing from Dropbox
  • Option to turn comments off by default for new posts
  • New support area within the app settings
Poster is available in the App Store as a universal app worth $3.99. It's compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. It has also been optimized for the four-inch Retina display of the new iPhone 5 and the fifth-generation iPod touch. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
