An iOS 6.0.1 Untethered Jailbreak Solution Is Almost Complete

November 11, 2012
It's already possible to jailbreak iOS 6.0.1 (ultrasn0w fixer and TinyUmbrella have also been updated accordingly). However, the jailbreak solution doesn't support newer iDevices, and furthermore, it's merely a tethered solution. Fortunately, an untethered method for iOS 6.0.1 that supports the iPhone 5, iPad 3,2 and more is in the works, and might launch sooner than most are expecting. The news comes from jailbreak hacker Joshua Hill (@p0sixninja), who noted recently on Twitter that he'd uncovered a BootROM exploit for Apple's A5, A5X, A6 and A6X processors: Currently, no such jailbreak solution has launched for the iPhone 5, which became available back at the end of September. Naturally, new processors - such as the sixth-gen smartphone's A6X chip - are problematic for jailbreak hackers, which is why new solutions can take some time to develop. Hopefully, it shouldn't be too long until @p0sixninja has developed the aforementioned untethered jailbreak. Fingers crossed it launches sooner rather than later.
