Barclays, a UK-based bank, has recently bought 8,500 iPads "to assist [their] branch colleagues to interact with customers, improving their customer experience." Apparently, the iPads will be used as part of a new scheme called "Mortgage Brain," which will allow Barclays staff to scan the entire UK market quickly and easily using a tablet computer.
Here's what Barclays (via The Register) had to say regarding the implementation of iPads:
"We investigated a number of different tablet options and in this instance, we concluded that iPads were the best solution for their specific needs. We are now starting to use these across Barclays branches in the UK," she said.Interestingly, Barclays seems to have completely bypassed the Windows 8-powered Microsoft Surface tablet, and also Google's Android OS. It's no secret that the iPad works well in business, and Barclays isn't the first to the game when it comes to mass-buying and implementing tablets in large-scale companies. So if you're in a Barclays branch and see a staff member ambling around with an iPad in hand, now you know why. He or she might also be able to score you a great deal on a new mortgage, if you're interested. For more information, check out The Register's original article.
