A short time ago (just an hour ago, to be exact) in a galaxy that is not far, far away (the galaxy of iOS games in the App Store, that is), Angry Birds Star Wars got its first ever update.
Released to great critical and commercial success just three weeks ago, Angry Birds Star Wars is a game that combines the popular physics-based puzzle game and the popular epic space opera.
Angry Birds Star Wars features the Force-wielding Rebel Birds in an interplanetary battle against the Imperial Pigs. In the game, you help the former by using lightsabers, Blasters and Jedi powers to wreak havoc on the latter.
As mentioned, the game has just received its first ever update. According to Angry Birds creator Rovio, the update has the following backstory. (Just imagine yourself reading it as it passes by in the manner of Star Wars' trademark opening crawl.)
It is a dark time for the Rebellion. Evading the dreaded Imperial Starfleet, a group of freedom fighters has established a new secret base on the remote ice world of Hoth. Unfortunately the evil Darth Vader discovers their hideout, and the desperate Rebel birds must escape the AT-ATs and Pigtroopers hot on their trail.
