MotionX Makes Their Sleep App Even Heartier
December 22, 2012
Last month, MotionX released v4.0 of Sleep, which contained a substantial overhaul and retooling that adds iPhone 5 support, heart rate recording, and greater efficiency. In the most recent update, Sleep contains enhancements to the heart rate monitoring feature and some improvements to log compatibility.
Closest in operation to the walk tracking feature of Sleep, the heart rate monitor already had good basic functionality with recent averages and statistics. The revised log user interface now has a monthly summary separation by default as well as a graphical representation of data, which is much more like the rest of the app. With the graph and monthly separation, it should be easier to locate specific information, notice trends, etc.
The second log improvement deals with sleep. Working to address complaints of data loss when upgrading, MotionX notes that they've "expanded support for sleep data recorded in version 3.0 and earlier." Unfortunately, this doesn't appear to resolve the entire issue but, hopefully, it should shed some hope for smoother transitions of longtime users performing future updates.
