Can You Guess The Movie Just By Looking At Its Minimalist Poster?
January 20, 2013
If you consider yourself a true cinephile, then I dare you to … Guess The Movie.
Essentially, Guess The Movie is a guessing game for movie lovers … with a minimalist twist.
The concept of Guess The Movie is quite simple. It challenges you to guess a certain movie based only on a simplified, minimalist poster of it.
It contains hundreds of impressively designed posters for your viewing and guessing pleasure. And you can even buy the posters by visiting the artist pages linked to them.
The posters are grouped into different difficulty levels to test your film recognition skills. If you ever get stuck on a particularly tricky poster, you can use at most three hints.
The first hint provides you with a plot summary for the movie. The second hint gives you a Hangman-style clue. And finally, the third hint resolves the poster for you.
Use your hints sparingly, though, since they don't come aplenty. But you do get a free hint every time you correctly guess three posters in a row. And you can also get a pack of 50 hints via a $0.99 in-game purchase.
As it happens, you might need more hints if you wish to guess all 96 new posters just added to the game through its latest update.
The new posters are found in the game's three new levels.
The new "Best of 2012" level contains 16 new posters depicting some of the most popular films last year. The new Level 06 contains 48 new posters. And finally, the new Super Hard level contains 32 new posters.
Also, Guess The Movie now lets you enlist help from your Twitter and Facebook friends in solving the posters.
Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 4.0 or later, Guess The Movie is available in the App Store for free. Note, though, that the game hasn't been optimized for iPhone 5 and the fifth-generation iPod touch.
