Dragon Runner Promises To Add Mario-Esque Depth To iOS Endless Running

January 1, 2013
As might be guessed from the second half of its name, Dragon Runner is yet another endless runner. But it's one that promises "depth," according to its developer Cleaversoft. Well, you be the judge of that. But unfortunately, you can't get to be the judge of that until the game is officially released at least a year from now. That's right: Dragon Runner won't be launched until next year. But if you happen to be at the 11th Annual Music and Gaming Festival (MAGFest) from Jan. 3 to 6 this year, then you can check out the first public demo of the game. If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here. As stated by lead developer Rich Siegel in the promo video above, Dragon Runner is Cleaversoft's "first real, living, breathing video game." Looking at the gameplay footage in the video, I must say that the game is definitely a far cry from Cleaversoft's previous efforts, the online tournament apps BeardWars and PuppyWars. Dragon Runner is said to draw inspiration from the popular iOS runners Jetpack Joyride, Subway Surfers, Monster Dash, and Tiny Wings. But Dragon Runner is aimed at exhibiting a certain depth that is reminiscent of a Mario game, with its projected eight worlds of "meticulously designed" levels. Watch the video above to learn more about Dragon Runner, which apparently stars a hero with a beard so magnificent that it's sure to land a spot in BeardWars' Hall of Beards.
