AppAdvice App Of The Week For February 11, 2013
Every week, our staff will handpick an app from the past two weeks that we believe is a must-download for your iPhone or iPad. These apps will always be from various categories, but they are chosen because our own staff members love it and have been using them daily. So here are this week’s picks! Enjoy!
Seesaw for iPhoneHave you ever had some trouble with making a decision and want your friends’ opinions, or even just strangers? Now you can get all of that, and even add your own input for others, with Seesaw for iPhone.
Seesaw is a decision maker app that allows you to create polls, and have people vote on what they prefer. This is a micro social network, but you can also share your polls with your friends with private links through email, messages, and your social networking sites (Facebook and Twitter).
To create your account, you will sign up using your mobile phone number. This will send a text to you, which contains a link, and you just need to tap on it to be taken back to the app and logged in, ready to create your profile. This is also the process for when you sign out for whatever reason and need to sign back in again.
When you are on the global feed, you’ll see the latest polls that other users of the community are creating. You can select the option you want on their polls, see what others voted, and even contribute comments or view the discussion as well.
To create your own polls, you can add up to four photos, and change the question you want to ask to better suit your provided options. Then post it to Seesaw, and you will get additional sharing options to send to your friends personally.
You can even follow other users on the service as well, if you find their questions interesting enough. If someone else sends you an invitation to a Seesaw poll, it will appear in your Invitations tab.
This is a fun way to crowdsource opinions on various things, so if you’re quite indecisive, then you will want to give this app a try. You can get it for free in the App Store.

Honorable Mention ShortwaveEver want to connect with others over discussions, but feel that text just isn’t enough? Then you will want to check out Shortwave — the app utilizes videos to hold interesting conversations with each other.
These videos can be anywhere from five seconds to a minute long in length. The quality of the video is definitely not high definition, but they load very quickly. For an app that is about conversations, though, the quality of the video is fine — conversations move fast, there isn’t time to wait for videos to load.
Conversations are organized by topic, so you can definitely find something that interests you. Topics will allow you to play videos automatically or you can skip through boring ones. Conversations can be voted on, which will help determine if it floats or sinks. The process is great for helping other users discover valuable content.
You can follow people on the service, and see all of the topics that they start. Or you can just find random people through the public channel. Topics are organized by time or popularity.
If you are looking for interesting discussions with people who have the same interest, then you should definitely check out Shortwave. It’s fun and available for free in the App Store.
