Rockmelt's Pocket Integration And Other New Features Will Rock Your World

February 9, 2013
Rockmelt, the iOS app that enables you to "discover the best of the Internet," has received another rockin' update. The popular social browser launched as an iPad-only app in October last year. But it became universal with a new iPhone version just a couple of months later. As it became universal, a bunch of neat features were added to the app. And now, even more neat features have been added to Rockmelt through its latest update. Perhaps the neatest new feature of Rockmelt is its integration with Pocket. After connecting your Pocket account to Rockmelt, you can begin saving articles to the popular read-later service. Just swipe to the right of an article to keep it in your sidebar and Pocket at the same time. And get this: removing an article from the sidebar also removes it from your Pocket reading list. And in case I haven't made myself clear: I do think that Rockmelt's Pocket integration rocks. If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here. The app's new update also lets you find and follow your friends from Facebook, Twitter, and your contacts. In addition, it lets you see friend suggestions based on the mutual sources that you and your existing friends follow. Furthermore, the update adds a new, eye-catching share button and emoting experience at the bottom of any story. The following features are also included in Rockmelt's latest update:
  • Add in any site you’d like on the iPhone, just like on the iPad, with one tap on the + button. Follow the feed and you’ll start to see new content right away.
  • See your friends’ reactions as you’re reading any article
  • New sidebar organization so you can quickly access saved articles, notifications and settings
  • Expanding swipe to hide functionality now includes content and friend suggestions
  • Many bug fixes including clearing text in the search box upon pivoting, fixing the tile swiping on the iPad in landscape mode and more
Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 6.0 or later, the new version of Rockmelt is available now in the App Store for free. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
