Word Up! Dictionary.com Dictionary & Thesaurus App Updated With New Features
March 23, 2013
Even though a systemwide dictionary is already built into iOS, standalone dictionary apps still prove to be quite useful. And one of the more popular of such apps is undoubtedly the official iOS app of Dictionary.com, which has just been updated to version 4.0.
Dictionary.com 4.0 brings several significant features.
To start with, the updated app is said to launch more quickly and offer word searches that are 60 percent faster than before.
Besides its improved performance, loads of new content are introduced in Dictionary.com 4.0.
These include 2,000 new definitions. Want to know what unusual terms like "mankind," "quantitative easing," and "prepone" mean? You can with just a few taps in the newly updated Dictionary.com.
The app now also features a new medical dictionary filled with over 35,000 medical words and definitions. It now also provides a new science dictionary with over 23,000 scientific definitions and illustrations.
Also added is a new Translator feature, which lets you translate words from English to any of the supported 30 languages in the app.
And finally, the app has been updated with font size customization for improved readability.
Optimized for iPhone and iPod touch, Dictionary.com Dictionary & Thesaurus is available in the App Store for $2.99. An ad-supported version of the app is also available in the App Store for free.
The app's iPad edition, which is also available in an ad-free paid version and an ad-supported free version, is yet to be updated with the above-mentioned features.
