Updated Dropcam App Adds Scheduling And Location-Based Camera Control

April 24, 2013
The Dropcam HD is always busy at my house. Along with serving as a video monitor for my son, it also does double duty by keeping a close eye on my beagle when I’m away. And the companion iOS app has just been updated with two great features requested by customers. With version 2.1 of the app, users can program any Dropcam to turn on or off based on some predetermined settings like location, time, or day. So, users can now do things like program the Dropcam to automatically turn on when you leave for work and turn off when you return home. Just like other parts of the app, it's very easy to set a schedule. Dropcam is a universal app for both the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini. It can be downloaded now in the App Store for free. The app is compatible with all models of the camera, including Dropcam HD, Dropcam Echo, and Dropcam Original. You can purchase a Dropcam HD for $149.99 from Amazon.com and other retailers. An optional DVR service, which offers access to video footage and the ability to make clips, starts at $9.95 per month or $99 per year for seven days of stored video. I’ve had a great experience with the camera and app so far, and this new update makes the system even more useful.
