Amenity Searching, Updated Points Of Interest And More Make Their Way To iExit 5.0
May 26, 2013
The highly rated interstate exit guide app iExit has just been significantly updated to version 5.0.
Developed by Metrocket, iExit lets you know what's coming up as you're making your way on the freeway. The "what" here includes food, gas, lodging, and retail chains as well as independent establishments.
When it updated the app to version 4.9 last January, Metrocket teased the arrival of version 5.0 in its release notes:
Stay tuned for iExit 5.0, which will contain a new way to search for what you're looking for, integrated business reviews from a reputable 3rd party, and a huge update to our interstate exit and business locations database.Well, iExit 5.0 has already arrived, and it does contain all of those, except for the integrated business reviews. Perhaps Metrocket is still hammering out a deal with the "reputable 3rd party." Nevertheless, iExit 5.0 is a neat update, and the biggest since the app's 4.6 update last October at that. For one thing, it introduces amenity searching. Now you can select amenities, in addition to businesses, as favorites, allowing you to search for, say, "ATM," "Open 24 Hours," or "pet-friendly." In line with this, the app's catalog of over 100,000 points of interest have been updated with their respective amenities and other changes. The new version of iExit also offers improved preset searches, which enable you to enter iExit into your preferred mode. You can choose from the app's 10 preset search modes: Gas, Food, Lodging, Truck Friendly, RV Friendly, Family Friendly, Rest Areas, Campgrounds, Auto Services, and Alternative Fuel. Background alert toggling and featured business listings are also included in iExit 5.0. Optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 5.0 or later, iExit 5.0 is available now in the App Store as a free update or as a new $0.99 download. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
