Following LinkedIn Acquisition, Pulse Gains LinkedIn Sharing Integration
May 9, 2013
The popular news reading app Pulse has just received a new update. This update is notable in that it's the first update to arrive to Pulse since the app was acquired by LinkedIn.
Unsurprisingly, the update brings an enhancement that lets you share stories with your professional network on LinkedIn.
LinkedIn bought Pulse a month ago to the tune of $90 million as part of its efforts to become "the definitive professional publishing platform." According to SVP of Products and User Experience Deep Nishar, LinkedIn aims to be the site "where all professionals come to consume content and where publishers come to share their content."
Right after the acquisition was announced, a new LinkedIn Influencers feed featuring posts by well-known thought leaders was remotely propagated to the Pulse app. And now, via a new update, comes the ability to share Pulse stories on LinkedIn.
The latest update to Pulse also adds the ability to save stories with one tap and send them to Pocket, Instapaper, and Evernote.
Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 5.0 or later, the new version of Pulse is available now in the App Store for free.
Released as an iPad-only app in May 2010, Pulse later launched on iPhone and is now available as Android and Web apps as well. It now has more than 30 million users across its supported platforms.
