Get 'Kicked' Into Action And Start Reaching Your Goals With Mentor

May 26, 2013
Need a mentor to help you reach your goals? Well, the makers of a new productivity app believe that your friends, family, and even your followers online could fill that role. And so they created the recently released Mentor. Mentor is much like Lift and Everest (both of which have been featured here on AppAdvice) in that it encourages you to do what you want to do by keeping you engaged in a community of goal-oriented people. The makers of Mentor call this "social context":
We harness the power of social context for your personal development. By creating a place for people with a purpose, we provide you with a motivating and inspiring environment of like-minded people. Here, you can share your successes, get motivation and interact with people on the same path. By being an active part of the Mentor community, you can experience the strength numbers have for your development first-hand.
You can also learn what Mentor has been designed to do by checking out the video below. Note, though, that the app as it stands now looks considerably different from the beta version shown in the video. If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here. To get started with Mentor, you must create an account using your email address or your Facebook account. Once you're logged in, you can already begin building a list of things you want to do more often, e.g. read more books, get fit, and learn a new language. You can add a goal right from Mentor's database of activities, or you can create it yourself if it's not there yet. You can then keep track of your activities and see visual reports on your progress. Mentor's social context really kicks in when you begin interacting with other users by liking or commenting on their own activities. In turn, you can expect to get "kicks" from your followers to motivate you into performing more admirably. Optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 5.0 or later, Mentor is available now in the App Store for free. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
