For the second time in less than a month, the official Rdio app for iOS has been updated with a slate of new features.
Probably the biggest addition in version 2.2 is the ability to search for a specific record label to find its top albums and artists.
Available in the side navigation bar, Find People provides a curated list of recommended friends and their music tastes, based on connected Facebook and Twitter accounts. Handpicked artists will also be offered to connect with.
Finally, along with a new and cleaner look for the sliding sidebar, the update brings other bug fixes and minor UI improvements.
Rdio is a universal app for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini. It can be downloaded in the App Store now for free. To use the iOS app, the unlimited package costs $9.99 per month.
The streaming music wars have definitely begun to heat up. Google Play Music All Access was launched last week, and Apple is expected to unveil its so-called iRadio service as early as next month at WWDC.
Our own Bryan M. Wolfe recently took a comprehensive look at Rdio and other music services available for iOS users. See what service comes out on top.
