Skyfire Web Browser For iPhone Gains New Flash Video Analyzer And Other Features
May 26, 2013
Skyfire Web Browser, one of the most popular iPhone apps with the ability to display Flash video, has just been updated to version 5.0.
Skyfire 5.0 introduces a new way to analyze webpages for Flash video, plus a number of new features.
In the app, the Flash video alert has been relocated to the top of the browser. Just tap the "play" icon to scan the current page for any Flash video. As a consequence, the related video button is now separate from the Flash video alert button.
As mentioned, the new version of the app also includes new features, a couple of which happen to be among the ones added to Skyfire Web Browser for iPad through its last update in March.
One such feature is the unified search and URL navigation bar. You can use this "omnibar" both for entering Web addresses and performing Web searches. It even lets you easily choose your preferred search engine from the following: Google, Yandex, Duck Duck Go, Yahoo, Bing, Ask, and Baidu.
Another newly added feature cut from the same iPad cloth is the new Touch Glow effect. This gives instant feedback indicating where you tapped for more precise targeting of tiny links and buttons.
Skyfire 5.0 also presents smooth full-screen browsing, letting you do away with the top and bottom controls by simply scrolling down on a page. To restore the controls, just scroll back up.
Moreover, you can now disable the toolbar by toggling the appropriate switch in the app's settings panel.
Optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 5.0 or later, Skyfire Web Browser 5.0 is available now in the App Store as a free update or as a new $2.99 download.
Skyfire is included in AppAdvice's Best Web Browsers for the iPhone AppGuide under the Browsers That Display Adobe Flash category.
