Turntable.fm's Friend-Powered Music Streaming App Piki Becomes Even More 'Friendly'
May 28, 2013
Last month, Turntable.fm released Piki, a free music streaming app that's powered, in a sense, by your friends. Now, Piki has just received its first major update, which happens to add a new section where you can find new friends to power your music stream.
With Piki, you can add — or to use the app's parlance, "pick" — songs you love to your profile. Then, you have to find and follow your friends and other people. Make sure to follow those with great taste in music as their picks will make up the mix that you'll be listening to in Piki.
And to help you find more people with great taste to follow, Piki now includes a People tab.
Previously, the app has the following tabs: Player, Me, Inbox, Feed. Now, the Inbox tab has been replaced by the new People tab. If you're wondering where your messages have gone, they're now accessible within the Me tab.

The new Piki update also adds support for push notifications. If enabled, Piki push notifications allow you to get alerts every time someone "repicks" your songs, dedicate songs to you, and sends you messages.
Moreover, the update includes the following improvements:
Optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 5.0 or later, the new version of Piki is available now in the App Store for free. Turntable.fm's namesake app is also available in the App Store for free. As opposed to Piki, which lets you listen to your friend's picks at your leisure, the Turntable.fm app allows you to listen to music selected for you by others in real time.
