The official iOS app for American Airlines has just been updated to add a host of new features and improvements
Probably the biggest update in version 2.4 deals with how mobile boarding passes are handled in Passbook. With the new version of the app, fliers will receive updates about departure times along with gate and seat changes on their lock screen after adding a mobile boarding pass to Passbook. Previously, once a boarding pass was added to Passbook, no updates would appear, even if a flight was delayed or changed its gate.
And if applicable, the TSA Pre Check logo will also appear on mobile boarding passes in Passbook.
The update also strengthens some social media components. All fliers can send a direct message to the airline’s Twitter team for assistance with flights, highlight exceptional services, or for other general inquiries.
AAdvantage Platinum members can give feedback through the app via Twitter.
American Airlines is a universal app designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini. It can be downloaded in the App Store now for free.
Other airlines have also begun to offers Passbook compatibility with their official apps. British Airways added the function in an update earlier this week, and Alaska Airlines beat them to the punch in late May.
