Anodyne Mobile Could Be One Of The Best 16-Bit-Era Games For iOS

June 27, 2013
Anodyne Mobile, a new game for iOS, allows players to explore the vast, colorful, and exciting world of its protagonist's unconscious mind. Already available for Windows, OS X, and Linux, Anodyne can now be downloaded in the App Store for $2.99, and is optimized for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. In the game, players may access "The Land" - the unconscious, dreamscape-like world of lead character, Young - and interact with the fantasy environment there. Besides the 16-bit-style visuals, the dreamworld of Young's unconscious is further created through the presence of a "moody, dream-like soundtrack," the developer explains. Features of Anodyne Mobile include:
  • Explore the subconscious of Young , and adventure through over 20 diverse areas.
  • Features an original, 60+ minute soundtrack, to accompany the world of Anodyne.
  • Featuring over 6 hours of gameplay, and NO IAPs! Buy the game once, play it forever.
  • Extensive use of a household item.
So far, Anodyne Mobile has received praise at the 2013 Student Independent Games Festival awards and the Student Showcase at E3 2013. As the awards suggest, the game was indeed created by two friends during their last years at college. As mentioned, Anodyne Mobile can be downloaded in the App Store for $2.99, and is optimized for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
