Newly Updated Yahoo App Features Better Yahoo! Mail Integration And More

June 30, 2013
The official iOS app of Yahoo has just received its first major update since its big 3.0 update. Yahoo 3.0, which arrived a couple of months ago, most notably brought Summaries by Yahoo, which came as a result of the Internet company's acquisition of Summly in March. It also brought personalized stories and beautiful article pages, among other enhancements. Now, the Yahoo app has been updated to version 3.1. Yahoo 3.1 brings a number of improvements, including better integration with Yahoo! Mail. The Yahoo app originally had built-in Yahoo! Mail support. But following the official Yahoo! Mail iOS app's launch in December last year, Yahoo! Mail support was disabled in the Yahoo app, only to be reenabled later due to popular demand. This time, as mentioned, Yahoo! Mail has been further integrated into the Yahoo app. When tapping on the Yahoo! Mail option in the app's sidebar, you can choose to install the Yahoo! Mail app on your device or just use Yahoo! Mail with the in-app browser. Yahoo 3.1 also adds the following enhancements:
  • Much improved visual stream
  • Ability to change font size in article page
  • New background images
  • New sharing UI for content
  • Better accessibility for Web search
  • Sponsored stories in the classic stream
Better article navigation featuring multi-tap gestures is also included in the new update. While viewing an article, you can double-tap to go to the next article or triple-tap to go to the previous one. The new version of Yahoo for iOS is available now in the App Store for free. The app is optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 5.1 or later. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
