Pitfall! Finally Goes Retina, Offers Second Chances In Exchange For Diamonds
July 17, 2013
Pitfall! has just run into another major update.
Released in August last year, Pitfall! is an iOS game based on the Atari 2600 game of the same name. But while the original Pitfall! game for Atari 2600 was a simple side-scrolling jungle-crawling game, Pitfall! for iOS is essentially a Temple Run-like endless running game.
To its credit, though, Pitfall! for iOS does have notable features, including shifting perspectives, that set it apart from its endless running competition.
As mentioned, another major update has hit Pitfall!. And this update finally brings Retina display support, rendering the game's "retro HD" graphics more gorgeous than ever.

The update also adds the ability to cash in your diamonds in order to get a second chance and continue a game from the very same spot where it ended. Think of this new ability as the equivalent of spending gems, keys, and tokens in order to be revived in Temple Run 2, Subway Surfers, and Despicable Me: Minion Rush, respectively.
The latest update to Pitfall! also includes a new bounty multiplier that lets you earn extra Extra Experience, Gems, and Treasure.
The new version of Pitfall! is available now in the App Store for free. The game is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 4.3 or later.
Pitfall! is listed as one of the "Essential Apps" in AppAdvice's Endless Running Games AppGuide.
