Shelf Control: Will You Live Happily Ever After In The Story Of Choices?
July 15, 2013
If you loved gamebooks as a kid or still love them even now, then you'll probably enjoy this recently released iOS gamebook that is the subject of this week's Shelf Control.
Released just five days ago and created during a 36-hour game jam by the same studio behind the popular retro-style RPG Knights of Pen & Paper, the new iOS gamebook in question is called The Story of Choices.
The Story of Choices couldn't have been more aptly named as it's not only a story of choices but also a story about a guy called Choices.
You see, the hero of the gamebook or, simply, the game is named Choices. At the beginning of the game, it's Choices' first day on the job. Working as a messenger between the rulers of two kingdoms, he must make the right choices throughout the game in order to avoid a breakout of hostilities between the lands. Also, and perhaps more importantly, in order to get the princess to marry him and for them to live happily ever after.

Check out out the video above to see a series of choices that concludes with a happy ending. Note that just like any gamebook or choose-your-own-adventure story, The Story of Choices features multiple paths and endings, and one of the joys of the game lies in discovering all of them.
Featuring a quirky pixel art style and a lively chiptune soundtrack, The Story of Choices is available now in the App Store as a free universal download for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.
