It's been a long time coming, but Apple is rumored to be planning a new Apple Retail Store for Japan.
Given that the country has the largest number of residents-per-store out of all of Apple's retail locations (seconded merely by China), it's no surprise that the Cupertino, Calif. company is planning a new venue for its sales in Japan. According to ifoAppleStore, the new Apple Retail Store will be a short walk from its preexisting Shibuya store (pictured below), and once available it will become the third store in Tokyo.
Japan has a total of seven stores, but the demand is great compared with other international locations, such as the United Kingdom or Australia. While the global recession is said to have had an effect on Apple's Retail Store expansion, it would seem that Apple is confident in the recovering economy and is set to continue its expansion in Japan.
