Apple's Next Great iPhone Won't Arrive Until 2014
August 6, 2013
It’s becoming increasingly clear that the so-called “iPhone 5S” won’t be a game changer. Instead, it looks like Cupertino's flagship product will only receive a modest update when it is announced in September.
Newly leaked images at Letem Svetem Applem tell the story.
The iPhone 5S will look similar to its predecessor, the iPhone 5. Differences noted on the inside of the device include a longer and redesigned ribbon cable on the front panel, and screws in different locations.
The biggest takeaway here is that the iPhone 5S won’t include a rumored sapphire crystal capacitive touch button. Instead, the device’s home button is likely to remain the same. This suggests that there will be no fingerprint scanner this year as once believed.
The bottom line: Like the iPhone 4S before it, the iPhone 5S will be exactly like its predecessor except for a faster processor and improved rear facing camera.
Rumors are just that, of course – even ones that come with photographs. However, the Letem Svetem Applem post continues the long-held narrative that Apple’s next great iPhone refresh won’t occur until 2014.
As usual, we'll keep you updated.
