Cydia Tweak: Customize The Color Of Lock Screen Bulletins With ColorfulBulletins

August 23, 2013
Jailbreaking is all about customizing an iOS device beyond Apple’s restrictions. Today, we’re looking at a new Cydia tweak that allows you to modify the appearance of lock screen bulletins. When you receive more than one notification while your device is locked, you may notice that they begin to stack in a list. ColofulBulletins allows you to modify the color and transparency of this bulletin list. While that seems like a very simple idea, it may add a little extra flair to your device. Once you’ve installed this tweak, head over to the Settings app to customize the bulletins. ColorfulBulletins’ basic settings allow you to enable or disable the tweak, choose from 14 different colors, and adjust the transparency of the bulletins. Additionally, you can select a custom color by entering RGB values. When the “Winterboard Support” option is enabled, ColorfulBulletins will attempt to read your current theme’s colors and use those values for the color of bulletins. Finally, you have the option to enable “Single Bulletin Theming.” According to the developer, this option looks best with flat themes because it colors the background of a single bulletins at full screen width. Unfortunately, about 30 minutes after using this tweak, it started causing issues with the Settings app. Every time I attempted to adjust ColorfulBulletins' options, the Settings app would crash. I attempted to uninstall any other tweak that may conflict with Colorful Bulletins, but nothing seemed to work. I even tried reinstalling the tweak, but sadly, I wasn't able to get it to work again. Luckily, after uninstalling the tweak, there was no permanent damage to iOS or any other tweaks. While this tweak was functioning properly, it seemed to be a great way to customize lock screen bulletins, but after a while, I was unable to use it. If you’d like to give ColorfulBulletins a shot, it’s currently available in the BigBoss repository for free.
