Living Earth Updated With Tropical Cyclone Notifications And Other Enhancements
August 28, 2013
The acclaimed world time, alarm clock, and weather app Living Earth has just received a new major update.
The new update pushes the app to version 2.2 and introduces three noteworthy features.
Perhaps most noteworthy of these new features is support for tropical cyclone notifications. Now, you can set up Living Earth to notify you about tropical cyclones and updates on current storm systems in any or all of the three major oceans: Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific.
Living Earth 2.2 also adds, at long last, support for setting your current location as part of your city list. As a result, you won't have to add new cities when traveling.
The new version of the app also includes a new optional temperature badge feature:
The temperature for your location can now be shown on the app icon on your Home Screen. You won't need to open the app to get the current temperature reading before heading outside, you'll be able to glance at it from the app icon!Note that the temperature shown on the app icon is for your current city or the first city in your city list. Note also that you can opt to be noticed when the temperature passes 0°, considering that negative numbers cannot be displayed on the app icon. Also including bug fixes and interface tweaks, Living Earth 2.2 is available now in the App Store as a free update or as a new $2.99 download. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 6.0 or later. The app's 2.1 update arrived last February. It brought iCloud integration for syncing cities across devices, the latest planet night imagery from NASA Earth Observatory, support for multiple alarms, and other improvements. The newly updated app also supports setting of the volume per alarm for multiple alarms. Living Earth is included both in our Best iPhone Weather Apps AppGuide and in our Best iPad Weather Apps AppGuide. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
