Sony’s new high-end lens attachments compatible with the iPhone have been officially outed after the manuals were leaked to SonyAlphaRumors.
The QX10 and QX100 both feature Sony imaging technology and will magnetically attach to an iPhone. Along with a rechargeable battery, the lenses will also feature a microphone and a built-in display panel.
Each lens will offer the same type of features, but the QX100 is highlighted by its better image quality. With the lenses, an iPhone will be used as a viewfinder and to handle all of the control features.
Both models are expected to be officially unveiled in a media event on Wednesday, Sept. 4.
No price has been announced for either lens, but don’t expect them to come cheap. Cameras with the same lenses range in retail price from $400 to $600.
Would you purchase something like this? I can’t say I would. If I want DSLR-quality images, I’ll take my Canon with me instead of hauling around one of these bulky attachments.
