The Apple TV Adds Five New Channels Including Vevo And Two From Disney
August 27, 2013
The Apple TV now includes new channels thanks to another software update. The new channels include Vevo, Disney Channel, Disney XD, Weather Channel, and content from the Smithsonian Channel.
Vevo’s Apple TV app is similar in content to Vevo TV. Launched last March on Vevo’s supported platforms, including iOS through Vevo for iPhone and Vevo HD for iPad, Vevo TV is an MTV-like channel that streams a 24/7 mix of music videos, live performances, and original programming.
Apple has been very busy in recent months on the entertainment front. In June, they added HBO Go, WatchESPN, Sky News, CrunchyRoll, and Qello to the Apple TV. Last month, they acquired video discovery startup Matcha. Both moves suggest that Apple could soon be ready to launch its long-rumored "iTV."
