Apple Unveils Lightning-Compatible iPhone Docks For The iPhone 5S And iPhone 5C

In a minor surprise, Apple has reversed course and is now offering Lightning-enabled docks for the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C
Popping up on Apple’s site shortly after today’s media event, the official docks look almost identical to the older 30-pin versions.
From the small number of photos, it looks like the docks can only hold a handset without a case. The iPhone 5S dock is also compatible with the iPhone 5.
Both docks will retail for $29. They can be picked up at an Apple Store starting on Friday, September 20 – the same day the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S are officially put on sale.
After Apple announced last year that it wasn’t providing an official dock for the iPhone 5, a number of third-party manufacturers stepped up to fill the void.
Two of my favorite docks so far are the HiRise from Twelve South and the SETA/NanoTek stand.
Along with the dock, Apple today announced official cases for both the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. And we’ll be sure to let you know about the multiple third-party cases that should be flooding the market soon.
