Byword Now Optimized For iOS 7 With New Design And New Features

Last June, Byword 2.0 was released, featuring full offline support in Dropbox, blog publishing, and several other enhancements. This time, Byword 2.1 has arrived, bringing with it a number of improvements for and made possible by the newly launched iOS 7. Of course, the new iOS 7-optimized version of Byword features a new iOS 7-inspired interface. Byword developer Metaclassy notes:

The search interface, the documents list, the input accessory and the text editor have been re-designed to match iOS 7 brand new design guidelines. There’s now a golden tint color to display elements that allow user interaction. We hope you like it.

Byword 2.1 also takes some cues from iOS 7 with regard to its gesture-based navigation. As a result, you can now perform a left-edge swipe to go back when browsing documents or a right-edge swipe to bring the Markdown preview into view. The newly updated app also features a redesigned input accessory, which now has two pages: one for word and character counters, and one for Markdown shortcuts and text navigation. Moreover, Byword 2.1 adds support for sharing any document via AirDrop and Markdown syntax highlighting with Text Kit. Both AirDrop and Text Kit are technologies introduced in iOS 7. Byword 2.1 is available now in the App Store as a free update or as a new $4.99 download. The newly updated app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 7.
