Spotify Update Makes It Easier To Browse For Music

September 3, 2013
Popular music streaming service Spotify has just updated its iOS app with an entirely new way to browse music. In version 0.7.4 of the app, the new Browse component is added in with the usual Search section. Music lovers can browse a number of curated playlist categories like New Releases, Top Lists, Rock, Pop, Chill, and Workout. The update also brings language support for Thai, Turkish, Brazilian Portuguese, Malay, and Greek. Spotify is a universal app designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini and can be downloaded now in the App Store for free. In the United States, music lovers can listen to Spotify’s radio channels for free. To get the most out of the service, a Spotify Premium membership will set you back $9.99 per month. As a long-time member, the subscription price is definitely worth it. And Spotify looks to be upping its game since the official rollout of Apple’s iTunes Radio is coming soon. Earlier today, the company also announced its new AirPlay-like Spotify Connect streaming feature. The service will route the music through Spotify servers after the process has begun on an iOS device. That will lessen the strain on battery life. Speakers compatible with the service will come from major manufacturers like Bang & Olufsen, Denon, Marantz, Philips, Pioneer, Sonos, and Yamaha. Some existing speakers will receive the capability with the firmware update. The service is touted as arriving in the "coming months."
