This Week In Accessories: iPhone 5s And iPhone 5c Case Madness, Part 1

September 13, 2013
Welcome back to our weekly look at the latest and greatest iOS device accessories. It’s time for the new iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c. With exactly one week until both handsets are officially on sale, here’s a quick roundup of some new case choices. We’ll be back next week with a look at even more.

Moshi

Moshi is going all out, offering a number of cases that should appeal to everyone who purchases Apple’s flagship handset or the colorful iPhone 5c. iGlaze Armour: The pictured $40 aluminum case for the iPhone 5s/5 features a diamond-cut back panel and maintains the two-toned iPhone look. Available now, buyers can select from black, bronze, and silver. iGlaze Kamelon: The hard shell case is highlighted by its aluminum kickstand made with piano wire for vertical or horizontal use. It costs $50 and is available in white with textured vegan leather or black with a synthetic fabric exterior. The case can be ordered now. Overture: This wallet case for the iPhone 5s/5 has one cash and three credit card slots. The included microfiber cleaning cloth attaches directly to the case. Retailing for $45, it is available in gray felt, black synthetic fabric, and red vegan leather. The Overture can be ordered now. Concerti: Available in black or red, the Concerti is lined with Moshi’s proprietary microfiber and is equipped with a detachable cleaning cloth. It costs $40 and can be ordered now. iGlaze Remix: Available in October for the iPhone 5c, the iGlaze Remix is highlighted by a pliable design with a hard coating to preserve the case’s glossy exterior. Constructed to provide the look of a hard case and the feeling of a soft case, the Remix should also be able to easily fend off pocket lint. Selling for $30, the case will be available in black, white, blue, red, and pink.

Griffin Technology

One of my favorite case makers, Griffin, is offering nice selections for both handsets. Along with announcing that the Survivor, Survivor Clear, Suvivor Slim, and Survivor Skin will soon be available for the iPhone 5c, here are two other case options. Separates: An entirely new line designed for both the iPhone 5s/5, the Separates fashion collection is highlighted by its fun and colorful patterns. Made with a polycarbonate backplate and a color-keyed frame for protection at the edges and corners, all backs and frames are interchangeable. Available in a wide variety of designs, the pictured case is $29.99 and can be ordered now. Reveal: Coming soon for the iPhone 5c, the Reveal is a great slim protection option for the handset. Adding just a millimeter of thickness, the one-piece design is highlighted by a translucent back shell that shows off the colorful handset. It retails for $19.99 and is coming soon.

X-Doria

Unique case maker X-Doria is at it once again offering some standout options for both of the new iPhones. All the cases can be ordered now. Defense 720: This protective case features a hard injected protective shield that completely covers the screen while still allowing full touch control. The soft rubber edges add another layer of protection. The iPhone 5s/5 version of the case is available in blue, purple, and black while the iPhone 5c case comes in gray, red, blue, and yellow. The Defense 720 for either handset retails for $29.99. Rapt: Made with both polycarbonate and thermoplastic urethane, the Rapt features glossy accents that contrast well with the matte exterior. Available for both the iPhone 5s/5 and iPhone 5c, there are three different color combinations to select from – black/gray, blue/blue, and pink/ fuchsia. The case is $24.99. Scene Plus: Retailing for $29.99, the Scene Plus combines a tough rubber exterior and a soft rubber cover to protect either an iPhone 5/5s or iPhone 5c. With a translucent back, users can see their iPhone peek through the 3-D design. The iPhone 5s/5 version is available in black prism, pink bubbles, and blurry dots. The iPhone 5c case comes in bubbles, tribal HB, and stripes.

Belkin

Both of Belkin’s new cases are listed as coming soon. Outrigger: The pictured Outrigger, available for both the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c, costs $29.99 and is a slim-fitting case with an easy to grip body. The reinforced, shock-absorbing inner frame helps protect the handset while users still have access to all controls and ports. The iPhone 5s/5 version comes in six different color combinations while the iPhone 5c case buyers can select from purple or gray. Grip Candy: Available only for the iPhone 5c, the Grip Candy’s wraparound frame protects the screen from scratches while the tinted, soft-touch finish is made with easy to grip material. Costing $29.99, buyers can choose from one of three color combinations.

Adopted Leather Series for the iPhone 5s

Just in time for the introduction of the new iPhone 5s, Adopted is introducing a series of cases just for leather lovers. The Leather Frame case has a two-piece interlocking design that features a metal frame with inlays of genuine full-grain leather. It’s available in a pewter/gunmetal or white/gold combination for $39.95. It is also compatible with the iPhone 5. The Leather Folio is marked by its full-grain leather exterior and soft fiber interior that protect the iPhone’s screen while also providing room for credit cards. Along with easy snap-in installation for the handset, users have full access to all buttons and ports. Designed for the iPhone 5s/5, it retails for $59.95 and comes in either a pewter/silver or white/gold color combination. Both cases can be preordered now on Adopted’s site, and delivery is slated for early October.
