Wordly - More fun than your mother's word game by Scopely - Top Free Apps and Games LLC (Free, 40.8 MB): From the team that brought us Jewels With Buddies, Dice With Buddies, and Mini Golf MatchUp arrives a fun turn-based word game. A lot like Letterpress, the goal is to claim and steal tiles to earn points by creating words until no more tiles are left free. However, Wordly does include a couple of extras that may sway you to join its party, the first being Wild tiles. Randomly selected and offered for free once per match, making them similar to the bonus rolls in DWB, these additional letters include no direct score increase but do provide great assistance during dire times if utilized effectively. As for the second perk, it's about opponent flexibility. Instead or even while challenging friends and strangers, you can choose to compete in quick matches against skilled AI-controlled characters representing great intellectuals, such as Albert Einstein. The game features cartoony 2-D graphics, solo and multiplayer play modes, Push notifications, in-game chat system, Word Hint power-up, daily goal and achievements, plus Facebook, Twitter and With Friends network integration. Ads are disabled via a $4.99 in-app purchase.

Da Vinci’s Demons: The Apprentice by Starz Media ($2.99, 135.2 MB): This puzzler based on the British-American drama television series takes you back in time to create some of Leonardo da Vinci's marvelous inventions. While not always credited to the famous painter, his engineering skills were impressive, allowing development of machines beyond their time. In this tale, Leonardo must address urgent business out of town, leaving you to tend the workshop. With some assistance, finish constructing the designs by placing gears, flipping switches, repositioning lights, adding tubes, spinning levers, and more until the device is operational. If you're an exceptionally talented apprentice, there will be no problem also locating the engraved symbols and florins placed on and within each machine. The game features beautiful 3-D graphics, wonderful instrumental soundtrack, easy touch and swipe controls, five inventions with 12 stages and 36 goals each, as well as Game Center achievements.
