Vimeo For iOS 7 Presents New Design And New Features, But Where's Search?
September 19, 2013
Before you read the following sentence, you might want to take a deep breath. Concurrent with the launch of iOS 7 is the release of an iOS 7-optimizing update for the official iOS app of a video-sharing service that has actually been baked right into iOS 7. Got it? In that literally breathtaking statement, I am, of course, referring to Vimeo, whose iOS app has just been updated to version 4.0 with a new design that is itself quite breathtaking.
If you're already on iOS 7, download Vimeo 4.0 now and, as the Vimeo team enthusiastically urges, "prepare to be wowed by its bodacious uploaditude, ultra-gratifying instawatchness, and jaunty moving pictures."
Owing to its being integrated right into iOS 7, Vimeo now offers a simple way to store and share videos right from the new operating system's Camera and Photos apps. Vimeo now also supports AirDrop, allowing you to quickly share videos with other iOS 7 users via the Wi-Fi ad-hoc file-sharing service.

Vimeo 4.0 also offers instant video playback for the most recent videos in the Watch Later and My Videos sections. What's more, this feature works even without an Internet connection.
The newly updated app also features video thumbnails, in which videos begin playing as you scroll through them.
Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 7, Vimeo 4.0 is available now in the App Store for free.
While the new version of Vimeo looks and feels good on the new version of iOS, it has been criticized for its lack of search features. Fortunately, according to Vimeo, "Search is coming back real real soon." As it turned out, Vimeo "had a crazy deadline to get this app ready for the iOS 7 launch."
