Disney's Story App Gains New Features And Enhancements Through First Major Update
October 4, 2013
Story, the "effortless storytelling" app from Disney, has just received its first major update.
Released five months ago, Story offers a quick and easy to way to create and share story-driven slideshows (like the one embedded below) enhanced with text, photos, videos, themes, and more.
It was launched as an app that's designed for iPhone and iPod touch. Unfortunately, it remains as such even after its first major update, as this new update doesn't include universal support.
Be that as it may, the update does deliver a number of enhancements. These include support for in-app viewing of stories shared with you and support for adding photos from any album in the Photos app.
If you can't see the slideshow embedded above, please click here.
The update also adds a selection of more than 20 songs, including Disney favorites, which you can add to your stories. Moreover, it introduces premium themes, featuring Disneyland, "Cars," "The Little Mermaid," and "ESPN SportsCenter," each available via a $1.99 in-app purchase.
A new play experience, including animations and music, and more ways to share, including Pinterest and Twitter (in addition to Facebook and email), are also brought by the latest update to Story.
The new version of Story is available now in the App Store for free. The app is optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 6.0 or later.
And speaking of "Story," just yesterday, Snapchat launched its new "Stories" feature, enabling users to easily showcase their photos and videos, aka "Snaps," from the last 24 hours.
