The iOS-Compatible MetaWatch Will Be Available At Best Buy Next Month

October 16, 2013
Best Buy shoppers can select from another iOS-compatible smart watch starting early next month. According to The Dallas Morning News, the MetaWatch will be available to purchase in stores and at the retailer’s site starting on Sunday, Nov. 3. Buyers can choose from two models of the device, the $179 Strata and the $229 Frame. The watch has taken off since being first offered as a Kickstarter project back in 2012. Raising almost $310,000 on a goal of $100,000, the watch connects to an iPhone using Bluetooth 4.0 technology. Using a customizable widget system, wearers can quickly see information like weather, iMessages, who is calling, and calendar appointments. The watch can even notify you if you’ve left your phone behind. The notifications and other settings are managed with the free MetaWatch Manager app that can be downloaded in the App Store now. Thanks to the release of iOS 7, the watch can also support all Notification Center messages. Find more about the watch on the company’s site. And the MetaWatch will have a bit of company on the shelves. Along with fitness trackers like the Fitbit Flex and Jawbone Up, the Pebble smart watch landed at the electronics giant back in July. If you’re waiting for the long-rumored iWatch from Apple, you’ll need some patience, though. Current reports say the product won’t be launched until mid-2014 or later.
