The Misfit Shine Fitness Tracker Will Arrive At Best Buy Later This Week

October 24, 2013
Best Buy will soon be offering yet another iOS-compatible wearable accessory. Starting on Sunday, Oct. 27, the Misfit Shine activity tracker will be available at the retailer’s stores and on BestBuy.com. For $99.99, buyers can pick up the tiny tracker and a clasp. A black leather band, allowing the Shine to be worn as a watch, and a necklace will also be available at the retailer for $49.99 each. Misfit Wearables will also exclusively offer two new colors of the Shine at Best Buy – the pictured topaz and champagne. Earlier this month, I reviewed the Shine, and was overall really pleased with the hardware and app. The Shine offers a few advantages compared to other competing products like the Nike+ FuelBand SE and Fitbit Flex. Weighing in at a little less than 10 grams, the Shine has a diameter of 27.5mm and is 3.3mm thick – basically the size of three quarters stacked on top of each other. That makes it the first truly wearable fitness tracker. As another plus, the device is powered by a simple coin cell battery that lasts for up to four months before needing to be replaced. So users don’t have to constantly worry about charging. The free companion app was also recently updated to version 1.4. With the update, the tracker now syncs information in the background for users of iOS 7.
