Twitter Update Brings Preview Of Photos And Vine Videos Directly Into A Timeline

October 29, 2013
Twitter’s official app for iOS devices has just been updated with the addition of two very nice looking new features. Most importantly, in version 5.12 of the app, Twitter photos, Vine videos, and other select content now show a preview in your home feed. Tapping the image reveals the fullscreen version. The capability can be turned off in the Settings portion of the app. The new update also allows users to reply, retweet, favorite, or follow someone directly from a tweet in a timeline. A universal app designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini, Twitter can be downloaded now in the App Store for free. Nearing an IPO on the New York Stock Exchange, the social networking company has apparently been quite busy. Earlier this month, news leaked that Twitter has met with employees of MessageMe and may even launch a separate direct messaging app. Just before the release of iOS 7 in September, a report said that a future update will bring some major changes to the iOS app. The four tabs on the bottom of the Twitter app’s screen will be replaced with content-focused streams. Twitter also recently announced a partnership with Comcast and NBCUniversal that will allow users of the app to change the channel directly from a tweet.
