Microsoft Releases Xbox One SmartGlass iOS Companion App For Its Next-Gen Console

November 20, 2013
Ahead of the launch of its next-generation video game console, Microsoft has just released the official iOS companion app of Xbox One. Xbox One is set to be released in North America, Australia, New Zealand, and several European markets on Friday, Nov. 22. But its official iOS companion app is already available now to download in the App Store. Called Xbox One SmartGlass, the new app is similar in functionality to Xbox SmartGlass, which is the official iOS companion app of Xbox 360, the predecessor to Xbox One. Essentially, Xbox One SmartGlass works as a second-screen app as it lets you:
  • Navigate your Xbox One console using your device’s keyboard and touch
  • Control your media and set top box with the SmartGlass remote control
  • Browse the web on your TV using your mobile device
  • Enhance what you are watching or playing with SmartGlass companions
  • Increase performance with faster connections and reliability
  • Search, browse, and pin content to play on your Xbox One console
  • Track achievements, get game help, message friends, and watch game clips
Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 6.0 or later, Xbox One SmartGlass is available now in the App Store for free. Last week, Sony launched its very own second-screen app, simply called PlayStation App, for its very own next-generation video game console, PlayStation 4. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
