NaturalMotion Finally Releases Interactive Character-Based App Clumsy Ninja
November 21, 2013
Remember Clumsy Ninja? Well, it has finally bumbled its way into the App Store.
Clumsy Ninja was introduced and demoed (see video below) at Apple's fall event for the iPhone 5 and the fifth-generation iPod touch last year. It was supposed to be released in time for the holidays, but for some reason it didn't make its expected launch date.
It appeared to have already been canceled, until word got out that it was still coming. And now, here it is: Clumsy Ninja is finally out on iOS.
Developed by CSR Racing creator NaturalMotion based on its Euphoria Engine, Clumsy Ninja is an interactive character-based app that's kind of like a virtual pet app — except the virtual pet, as it were, takes the form of a clumsy ninja:
Meet Clumsy Ninja, the most hapless ninja ever to grace a touchscreen! Train him, throw him, tickle him, and even tie balloons to him. Everything you do will make Clumsy Ninja more skillful, and help him find his missing friend, Kira.If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here. Basically, to help the title character learn ninja skills, you have to play and perform exercises with him. Most of these exercises involve special items, including a punching bag and a trampoline, which may be unlocked via in-app purchase. Clumsy Ninja boasts real-time simulation and advanced AI, so you can expect your newfound ninjutsu-smitten friend to act differently every time and learn over time. Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 5.0 or later, Clumsy Ninja is available now in the App Store for free. Between this and the newly hatched Hatch, I say it's been a pretty great week for interactive character-based apps on iOS. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
