Rdio For iOS Updated With New Recommendations Engine And Redesigned Stations Player
November 6, 2013
Rdio has just reintroduced its Recommendations engine to its official iOS app.
The return of Recommendations to Rdio for iOS comes just over a month after the much-missed feature was restored to the popular music streaming service's Web version.
The new and improved Recommendations engine of Rdio enables you to easily discover new music recommendations. These include album recommendations based on what you've been listening to as well as stations and playlists that are popular with your friends and in your area.
It's worth noting that Rdio's Recommendations feature is powered by The Echo Nest, the same music intelligence platform behind the radio features of Rdio rivals Spotify and Rhapsody.
The latest update to Rdio for iOS also includes a redesigned stations player. This features a three-track display that shows the album art for the previous, currently playing, and next tracks. To skip to the next track, just do a quick swipe.
Also including various UI improvements and minor bug fixes, the new version of Rdio is available now in the App Store for free. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 5.0 or later.
Earlier today, the official iOS app of Spotify also received a major update, which adds touring details sourced from Songkick and new search features.
