RunKeeper 4.1 Now Captures Movements Outside Of Your Regular Workout

November 7, 2013
When I take a run or brisk walk, I turn to the RunKeeper app to track my movements and calories burned. The popular app has now been updated to include new tools for iPhone 5s users. RunKeeper 4.1 includes three new features specifically designed for Apple’s latest handset. Pocket Track is a new background detection system that tracks activities even when you don’t hit the start button. These activities are automatically added to your history and can be deleted at any time. Pocket Track captures the distance, duration, pace, and calories burned of any walk that’s 15 minutes or longer. This information is not added to your RunKeeper feed, Facebook, or Twitter. Other exclusive features for iPhone 5s include:
  • Stride rate chart: View how your stride rate changes while running or walking
  • Improved auto-pause for running and walking activities
RunKeeper has also added AirDrop support for the iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, and iPhone 5. This allows users to share one off workouts with friends nearby, and also add nearby workout buddies to the RunKeeper friend list.

The freemium app is available now in the App Store.
