Google Wallet Update Brings Single Sign On Capability And More

December 4, 2013
Google Wallet has just recently been updated for the first time since its initial release. Version 2.0.12117 offers three new features. First, if users take advantage of any other Google iOS apps supporting single sign on, they can instantly sign into Wallet. And using just an iPhone camera, users can add in a credit or debit card into the app. Both the card number and expiration date will be captured automatically. Finally, the Google Wallet Card can be used to spend a balance at MasterCard locations or to withdraw cash at any ATM. Designed for the iPhone/iPod touch, Google Wallet can be downloaded now in the App Store for free. Officially launching in the App Store back in late September, users can send money to an email address and store credit and debit card information for easier shopping. Loyalty programs can also be accessed via the app. Since the iPhone doesn’t feature an NFC chip, the iOS app can't support in-store payments like the Android version. With an eye on security, the app does offer PIN and 24/7 fraud monitoring protection.
