If you’re already tired of shopping on Cyber Monday, developer BeaverTap Games is giving iOS gaming fans a nice treat.
Their popular platformer Mikey Shorts, which was named one of our top paid iPhone apps of 2012, is now free. And the sequel Mikey Hooks, one of the best games released this year, has been discounted 50 percent.
Both games are definitely a treat, and are full of retro charm that should make any gamer old enough long for the days of Super Mario Bros.
The original Mikey Shorts introduces our titular character. And while the story is secondary, the fun isn’t. Gamers are tasked with finishing each level in the fastest time possible.
There is also another way to play, Challenge Mode, which requires that the level be finished in a certain time period.
Mikey Hooks, which landed in the App Store in August, ups the ante. Along with the addition of a racing mode, Mikey can now swing from platform to platform with his trusty grappling hook.
The enemies have also been upgraded with deadly spikes. Other obstacles, like electric sliders, have also been added to the mix. It was named as our AppAdvice Game of the Week shortly after its release.
Both titles are universal and designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini. Mikey Shorts is free while Mikey Hooks is just $0.99. The release notes say the discounts are for a limited time only, so if you haven't had a chance to play either game, download them now. You won't be sorry.
