Twitter For Mac Updated With Photo Previews, Tweet Details And Enhanced Profile View

December 13, 2013
Not long after it released a major update to its official app for iOS, Twitter has now also issued a major update to its official app for Mac. Just a couple of days ago, Twitter for iOS was updated with photo support in direct messages along with a few UI tweaks. Some of those UI tweaks have also found their way into Twitter for Mac through the app's latest update, which employs design cues from Twitter's other apps to improve the look and feel of the app. Most notably, the update, which pushes the app to version 3.0, brings a significant, if a bit unwelcome, change to timelines. As in Twitter for iOS following its update late last October, timelines in Twitter for iOS now display previews for Twitter photos. But if you'd rather not see them in timelines, you can turn off previews in Preferences to revert to the old timeline look. Twitter 3.0 for Mac also features a new tweet detail pane. When you click a tweet, you'll be taken to a detailed view that includes photos, favorite and retweet counts, and the conversation around the tweet. Finally, the new version of the app introduces an enhanced profile view, which comes complete with the user's header photo. The new profile view also lets you see the people the user is following and followed by, the user's lists, and the user's custom timelines. Twitter 3.0 is available now in the Mac App Store for free. It's compatible with OS X 10.7 or later. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
