Dream Theater 360 Offers Fans A Unique, Interactive Musical Experience

January 9, 2014
The American band Dream Theater has released its first app for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad . The universal Dream Theater 360 app offers fans a unique, interactive musical experience with the Grammy-nominated progressive metal band as they perform at Luna Park in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The $9.99 app includes five interactive songs filmed and produced using Mativision technology. Each fan can direct the show by manipulating Mativision’s multi-camera iOS player, and enjoy the concert in any way they want. Fans can also choose to switch from among six different cameras while also being able to rotate camera angles by taping and dragging, or by using the device’s built-in gyroscope. Fans can even zoom in and out, or simply switch to “auto pilot” mode and enjoy the show without interaction. The five songs featured include: "Bridges In The Sky," "6:00," "The Dark Eternal Night," "This is the Life," and "The Root of All Evil." Along with the unique interactive content, the Dream Theater 360 app includes band-related content such as a biography, discography, photos, and continuously updated tour information, news, and social media. Take a look: http://youtu.be/NthrisVjOC0 Dream Theater formed in 1985 under the name Majesty by John Petrucci, John Myung, and Mike Portnoy while they attended Berklee College of Music in Massachusetts. The three original members remained together, along with James LaBrie and Jordan Rudess, until 2010 when Portnoy left the band. In 2011, Mike Mangini joined Dream Theater as the group's new permanent drummer. Mativision is a premium 360-degree music video service. It is considered the first service to stream HD to a mobile device in true 360. The previously released Muse 360 and Slash 360 apps also use this technology. The universal Dream Theater 360 app is available to download in the App Store.
