GetGlue To Be Rebranded As tvtag Following Acquisition By TV Discovery Startup i.TV
January 26, 2014
GetGlue won't be sticking to its name for long. That's because GetGlue will be no more. But in its stead will be tvtag.
Apparently, the rebranding comes as a result of the popular TV check-in app's acquisition by TV discovery startup i.TV last November.
In an email to so-called Gluers, GetGlue has announced that some major changes are coming next week:
As many of you are aware, this update has been a long time coming. In fact, when GetGlue joined i.TV in November, one of the reasons we were all so excited about both companies coming together is that both teams shared a vision for how to make watching TV more fun and interesting. The update to GetGlue you’ll see next week is a culmination of a lot of hard work and your feedback. We can’t wait to share it with you!The update will bring about a name change, from GetGlue to tvtag, and will include a new look ("The app icon and brand colors will change from blue to red," says GetGlue) and a bunch of new features for its apps for iOS and other platforms.
Hey Gluers! Have we got some news for you! We’ve got a biggg update happening next week and we can’t wait to share it with you.

We'll let you know once the update goes live. In the meantime, you can download GetGlue for iPhone, which is available in the App Store for free. GetGlue for iPad, though, has apparently been discontinued in the process, or at least made unavailable for the time being.
Also available for free in the App Store is the official i.TV app for iPhone and iPad. The app serves as a guide for what’s airing on TV and what's available from Netflix, Hulu, and iTunes.
