IDEO's Spark Camera Is Apple's Free App Of The Week In The App Store

January 17, 2014
Mobile video creation is all the rage nowadays, what with the growing popularity of Vine and Instagram. And Apple looks set to stir up that enthusiasm this week with its free App of the Week in the App Store, Spark Camera. Hailed as one of the App Store's Best of 2013 in the Split-Second Video category, Spark Camera is a gorgeously designed app that lets you shoot, edit, and share beautiful movies in seconds. According to Apple's Editors' Choice citation:
Thanks to a beautifully minimalist design, Spark Camera lets you make memorable videos at a dizzying speed. Easily capture clips, apply one of 10 striking filters, add a song from your library, and then share your creation with friends and family through a variety of social-networking services.

It's compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 6.0 or later. The app was released for iPhone and iPod touch last October and updated with universal support for iPad and iPad mini in December. Spark Camera is a product of IDEO, the design firm that created Apple's first mouse. Developed in-house by IDEO’s Toy Lab in collaboration with the Digital Shop, the app is a grown-up follow-up to IDEO's iOS apps for kids, Balloonimals and Fisher-Price: See ‘n Say.
